Poisonous Spiders of Kentucky

In Kentucky, both of the well-known poisonous spiders have been reported in the state. The infamous black widow spider (Latrodectus sp.) may be represented by two species. The secretative Brown Recluse spider (Loxosceles reclusa) has been reported in various counties around the state. Although the Brown Recluse appears to be fairly uncommon in general, in some instances it has become locally abundant in holmes and public buildings.
